Max and Hudson

We're riding in the car when Max starts talking from the backseat..."Why is Hudson my cousin?"  My reply: "Cari is my sister, so any of her kids will be your cousins.  It will be the same when Uncle Devin and Aunt Bug have kids they will be your cousins too-because they are also my brother and sister."  To which he says, "No. (pause) I think it's because God knew I'd love him so much that He made him my cousin."  Yep Buddy you got it! AWWW!

A few days after this wonderful conversation took place Cari got suckered into having a 'spend the night' with 'The Boys'.  (Cari and Jacob are the greatest-my kids love them so much. I do believe they make me seem pretty replaceable in the eyes of my children.)

This was going to be The Boys' very first sleep over together.  I don't know who was more excited the two little boys or Uncle Jake! hehe!

Jake and Cari had lots of fun things for the boys to do. I didn't hear a peep from Max all night or even early the next morning. In fact when I called to check on him and see if he was ready to come home I heard him tell Cari something along the lines of "Tell her not to come yet."  When I did show, somewhere close to NOON(!) he still didn't want to leave.

Max and Hudson can see each other every single day-and everyday it's the same greeting...like they haven't seen each other in years. I am so grateful for my family, for the way they love my kids. I know that my children are loved just as much in their homes as they are in our home. Thanks Cari.

A few notes...

This last week has been a crazy one. I had to be gone all day Tuesday and Wednesday. All I can say is thank goodness for my family!  My Mom was so great and watched my kids all day Tuesday and my awesome Sister watched them all day Wednesday. I had to leave so early that I had to drop my kiddos off in their pajamas and Mom and Cari were then in charge of getting my kids ready and getting Max to and from school.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate them-without their help I wouldn't have been able to go. Thanks so much!

With that said I need to share a few things my kids learned over the two days without me....

Day 1
My Dad's favorite snack is cheese, he is always giving Kaysie snacks and those snacks include cheese.  Kaysie's new favorite word: (you guessed it) CHEESE!

Day 2
Anyone that knows my nephew Hudson knows that he wants to be a cowboy and loves to play 'guns.'  My daughter came home from Hudson's house and now pretends to shoot a gun. She says very softly "pow, pow" as she points at you. It cracks me up! Max doesn't really have an interest in toy guns unless he is playing with Hudson-but Kaysie has found a new favorite game.  She has shot us all at least hundred times over!

Before leaving my kiddos on Wednesday I had a chat with Max about being nice to Hudson, don't fight with Hudson, don't pick on Kaysie (they don't want her around them when they are playing-duh Mom), help Aunt Cari, etc, etc. When I picked my kids up I asked how everything went, Cari told me that Max and Hudson had a great time together. So Wednesday night as I was putting Max to bed I told him that I appreciated him being so good the last few days without me.  I then asked him if he really was good the whole time he was at Cari's house. (Max always snitches on himself)  He told me, "Well....Hudson wanted to fight but I said to him, my Mom said I'm not supposed to fight. So I didn't."  Haha! Like he really listens to what I say- 'cause it's always stopped him before. ;)
